SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – The American Silver Division of the Big Central Conference is perhaps the toughest division in the league year in and year out. Phillipsburg and Hunterdon Central have to duke it out with the likes of Hillsborough, Bridgewater-Raritan, and Ridge. This year will be no different, but the Stateliners and Red Devils look to be up to the challenge.
Finishing atop the BCG Top 10 a year ago, and coming in at No. 1 in this year’s Pre-Season Poll, Phillipsburg lost talented RB Xavier Moore to graduation but still has the likes of junior QB Jett Genovese, seniors Caleb Rivera, Cameron Bohal, and Kevin Burgess all returning. Hunterdon Central will look to continue the climb back to respectability with QB RJ Hart and RBs Jakob Saus and Xavier Arteaga.
North Hunterdon has a new coach and will be looking to rebuild after losing a ton of players from last year’s championship team to graduation. QB Tyler Anderson moves over from the WR position to lead the Lions. Meanwhile, Delaware Valley led by new head coach Ben Ibach, looks to compete in Group 2 once again with the likes of QB Luke Brogan, RB/LB Danny Shapiro, and WR/DB Michael Holzworth.
Phillipsburg gets the pre-season nod for No. 1 in Hunterdon-Warren, i.e. West Jersey. Last year’s records in parenthesis:
- Phillipsburg (11-1)
- Hunterdon Central (4-6)
- North Hunterdon (11-2)
- Delaware Valley (6-3)
- Warren Hills (5-5)
- Hackettstown (5-4)
- Voorhees (3-6)
- North Warren (6-3)
- South Hunterdon (6-3)
- Belvidere (0-9)
