Undefeated Chiefs Host 3rd Seeded Farmers in Big Central Middle School Title Game on Wednesday
PISCATAWAY, NJ – On Wednesday afternoon, top-seeded and undefeated Piscataway Middle School will host third-seeded Union for the 2023 Big Central Middle School Championship at Kenny Armwood Stadium in Piscataway. The Middle School Chiefs have rolled to the title game with a 7-0 record including a 26-6 first-round victory over a talented Crossroads Middle School team last week. Meanwhile, Union comes in with a 5-1-1 record after defeating Franklin in the first round last week.
Big Central Gridiron saw two Middle School games this season. Both involved teams that competed in the Middle School Playoffs. Back on October 11th, BCG traveled to South Brunswick and Crossroads Middle School to watch the Vikings take on North Brunswick Middle School. Crossroads won with a 28-0 shutout. Two weeks ago, Big Central Gridiron visited Frank R. Jost Memorial Field in South Plainfield to watch the Tigers host Piscataway. The Chiefs rolled to a 37-0 win.
In its first four games, Piscataway dominated its competition. The Middle School Chiefs had outscored their foes by a margin of 120-6 including a 40-0 shutout over Linden on October 5th. P-Way then followed that up with three more victories: Plainfield, South Plainfield (37-0), and Crossroads (26-6). In six of its seven games, Piscataway has outscored its opponents 183-12. P-Way handed Crossroads two of its three losses this season.
Although Union has one loss and one tie, the Middle School Farmers are very formidable as well. Prior to knocking off Franklin in the opening round of the playoffs, Union played the likes of Linden, both Elizabeth Middle Schools (North and South), South Plainfield, and Plainfield. The Middle School Farmers’ last three games have all been on the road. Union and Piscataway were scheduled to meet on September 13th at Kenny Armwood Stadium in P-Way, but the game was canceled.
