SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – After enjoying its best year in school history including its first sectional championship of the playoff era (since 1974), the Bernards Mountaineers will look to repeat as the Big Central Gridiron’s Small School Top Ten No. 1 team.
Bernards will have to contend with a long-time rival for this year’s top small school honors. Hillside has moved down to Group 2 this year and will play the Mountaineers next weekend at Olcott Field in Bernardsville. A.L. Johnson and New Providence will also be looking to contend as well as Delaware Valley and an improved Metuchen squad. Last year’s season records in parenthesis:
