Big Central Gridiron’s Week 1 Picks – September 5-7, 2024

Westfield begins its 2024 campaign with a very tough road game at Phillipsburg on Friday night. Every Big Central Conference school will be competing in Week 1 action.

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – Week 1 of the New Jersey High School Football season is about to begin, and the Big Centeral Conference kicks off action on Thursday night with two games. In one BCC crossover, Middlesex of the Freedom Silver division hosts Roselle Park of the Freedom Gold division. Then, in another BCC crossover, North Brunswick hosts arch-rival South Brunswick at Libro Field.

BCG plans to cover the annual rivalry contest between Governor Livingston and New Providence from Leider Field in New Providence on Friday night. Then, on Saturday afternooon, BCG travels over to Metuchen High School to see the Bulldogs take on South River. There are exactly 33 games on the Week 1 schedule with two on Thursday night, 25 on Friday night, and six on Saturday. All 59 Big Central Conference teams will be in action.

Week 1 big match-ups include South Brunswick at North Brunswick on Thursday night. Westfield travels to Phillipsburg while Piscataway hosts Bridgewater-Raritan, Union visits Hillsborough, Hillside heads to Bernards, and Watchung Hills meets Woodbridge in Friday action.

On Saturday, Sayreville looks to rebound after its overtime loss versus Colonia last week when it visits Linden. St. Joseph’s hosts Ridge, Montgomery travels to Summit, and St. Thomas Aquinas takes on Lincoln of New York in another showcase game in Paterson. Below are BCG’s Week 1 picks:
