South Plainfield vs. North Plainfield – Rivalry at a Glance

South Plainfield Looking for Third Straight in Series

NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – On Friday night, South Plainfield takes the short trip to Krausche Field in North Plainfield to take on the Canucks in a Big Central Conference United Silver Division match-up. It will be the 51st time that the Tigers and Canucks are meeting. North Plainfield has dominated the series, but South Plainfield will be looking for its third straight and 5th in 7 meetings against its arch-rival.

Both teams return to action for Week 2 after playing games in Week 1. South Plainfield is looking to get its first win of the season in three tries on Friday night. Two weeks ago, the Tigers lost to New Providence (23-7) on the road at Lieder Field. Then, last week, South Plainfield fell to Delaware Valley (21-0) in another BCC Crossover at Jost Field.

North Plainfield opened its season last week with a trip up to Northwest Jersey when it took on Belvidere at Domenick Colangelo Field. The Canucks came out on the short end of the stick to an improved Seaters squad (35-14). Both teams will be playing their first division contest in the Big Central Conference’s United Silver Division.

North Plainfield leads the all-time series 31-18-1.  The two schools didn’t play each other for 18 years (1984-2001). When the rivalry resumed in 2002, North Plainfield won 12 straight and 15 of the first 16 meetings. South Plainfield has won 4 of the last 6 including two in a row. Both teams have split the last 10 meetings (2014-2023). 

Both head coaches, Bill Hamilton of South Plainfield and Derrick Eatman of North Plainfield are quite familiar with the history and tradition of this rivalry.
