Big Central Gridiron’s Week 3 Picks – September 19-21, 2024

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – Week 3 of the New Jersey High School Football season is about to begin, and the Big Central Conference kicks off the action on Thursday night. There will be a couple of Thursday night games in the BCC this week. There will be 25 games on Friday night followed up by three more on Saturday afternoon. Thirty games in total involving all 59 BCC teams.

Several of the games this week are key early-season divisional match-ups while there is an important non-conference battle involving Piscataway. BCG plans to cover the BCC Freedom Silver contest between Bound Brook and Jonathan Dayton from Lambertville on Friday night. Then, on Saturday afternoon, BCG travels to Investors Bank Field in Summit to see the Hilltoppers take on Carteret in a BCC United Gold contest.

Week 3 big match-ups include Phillipsburg at Ridge in a BCC American Silver Division clash from Lee Field on Friday night. In addition, Somerville hosts Rahway in a crucial BCC Liberty Silver showdown from Brooks Field. St. Joseph’s will take its 2-0 record into Williams Field in Elizabeth to battle the Minutemen in a key BCC American Gold match-up. Old Bridge visits South Brunswick in an important BCC National Gold game. Piscataway travels to Bergen County to take on Ridgewood in a key non-conference contest.

On Saturday, there are only three BCC games on the schedule. In addition to BCG’s coverage of Summit and Carteret, South River and Spotswood renew their annual rivalry when the Rams and Chargers face off at Sayreville High School. Colonia and Woodbridge will be having a rare Saturday afternoon game as the two schools renew their backyard brawl for Woodbridge Township and BCC Liberty Gold bragging rights.
