Conditions Will Remain Dry with a Bit of a Warm-Up for Sectional Championship Weekend
SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – Sectional Championship Friday is here around Big Central Country and one of the big questions is what will the weather be like for the four sectional finals and two non-public quarterfinals involving BCC schools. To put it simply, it will be more of the same. Conditions are expected to remain dry with a bit of a warm-up this weekend.
There was a little bit of rain earlier this week. At Greg’s Weather Center in South Plainfield, approximately 0.26 of an inch fell late Sunday into early Monday. It was the first measurable rainfall at GWC in 42 days. There has been no measurable rain since. Since August 9th (98 days), only 2.34 inches of rain has fallen at GWC.
According to Meteorologist Joe Cioffi, no rain is expected in the New York City Metropolitan area until at least next Thursday. Recently, Governor Phil Murphy issued a Drought Warning for the Garden State. Reservoir levels at places such as Manasquan, Spruce Run, and Round Valley are at best 60 percent and could be lower than 50 percent by the end of this weekend.
Tonight will mark the first glimpse at the final supermoon of 2024. Meanwhile, in the tropics, Tropical Storm Sara has dumped 20 inches. of rain in Honduras and Nicaragua in Central America.
