2024 BCG Season Rewind – BCC National Silver

The trio of WR Josiah Zayas, QB Roman Blanks, and RB Chukwuma Odoh was at the center of St. Thomas Aquinas’ high-powered offensive attack that averaged 42 points per game en route to an 8-3 overall record, a BCC National Silver crown, and a berth in the Non-Public B Semifinals in 2024.

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – As we get underway with the 2025 New Jersey High School football season, let’s take a quick look back at the 2024 campaign.  Next stop on the tour is the Big Central Conference’s National Silver Division, won by St. Thomas Aquinas, with Sayreville and North Brunswick finishing tied for second.

Led by the trio of QB Roman Blanks, RB Chukwuma Odoh, and WR Josiah Zayas on offense and Zayas and Anwar Witherspoon on defense, the Trojans of STA won their fourth straight division title. Aquinas’ four division crowns were won in three separate divisions (Division 2B in 2021, United Gold in 2022 and 2023, and the National Silver in 2024.  

Sayreville and North Brunswick shared second place, although the Bombers defeated the Raiders head-to-head. Sayreville’s loss to Franklin allowed the Raiders to get the tie by defeating the Warriors in the last week of the regular season. Despite finishing tied for last at 1-3 in the division, Edison was the only other BCC National Silver team to qualify for the playoffs thanks to a 5-5 record and crossover wins against Colonia and South Brunswick.
