BCG Game Preview – Voorhees at Delaware Valley – September 26, 2025

On Friday night, the Voorhees Vikings travel to Frenchtown to take on the Delaware Valley Terriers in a clash of two talented small schools in Hunterdon County and the BCC’s Patriot Gold.

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – On Friday night, Big Central Gridiron will travel out to Frenchtown in Hunterdon County for its first-ever visit to Tap Webb Memorial Field for the Big Central Conference Patriot Gold match-up between long-time rivals, Delaware Valley and Voorhees.  This will be the 41st meeting all-time between the Terriers and the Vikings, with each team winning 20 times.  Del Val has been the more dominant team recently, with victories in 13 of the last 15 meetings since 2007.

Both Del Val and Voorhees are looking up to Bernards in the latest BCC Patriot Gold standings.  The Mountaineers defeated both the Terriers (43-7 on September 12th in Bernardsville and the Vikings (31-21 on September 19th in Glen Gardner).  Bernards hosts J.P. Stevens at Olcott Field in Bernardsville on Friday night with a chance to win the Patriot Gold title outright.  The Mountaineers have won at least a share of six BCC straight division crowns.

Watch the 19-minute movie from the action in Delaware Valley’s 42-34 win at A.L. Johnson in October 2024.

Since the formation of the Big Central Conference in 2020, Del Val has won every meeting between the two schools.  Voorhees’ last win was in 2018 by the score of 21-17 in Glen Gardner.  The Vikings had won two straight at that time (winning 23-13 in 2017).  The Terriers lost a great deal to graduation, but with the veteran play and leadership of senior QB Kelton Ibach, they have managed to enter tonightโ€™s game with a 3-1 mark.

Meanwhile, the Vikings had much more experience coming back, led by QB Sam Meekings, RB Matteo Traumatola, and WRs Rylan Benitez and Logan Direny, and also enter this contest with a 3-1 overall record.  Traumatola was a 1,000-yard rusher in 2024.  Both teams are battling for second place in the BCC Patriot Gold and playoff positioning in the NJSIAAโ€™s South Group 2 region.  Letโ€™s take a closer look at tonightโ€™s match-up.

Tale of the Tape: Delaware Valley vs. Voorhees – September 26, 2025

Outlook

This could be one of the better games of the year in not only in the BCC Patriot Gold but also in the entire Big Central Conference in 2025.  Delaware Valley is not as experienced and balanced offensively, but has played better defense.  The Terriers have only scored 27 points per game, but have only yielded two touchdowns per contest and recorded two shutouts.

Meanwhile, the Vikings have scored 37 points per contest and outscored their foes by 20 per game.  The Vikes have outgained Del Val by a margin of almost 125 yards per game.  The key will be the Terriers’ defense against the Vikings’ offense.  If Delaware Valley can win the game in the trenches and limit the combo of Meekings and Traumatola, it has a shot.

BCGโ€™s Prediction

Voorhees wins 24-23. View all of Big Central Gridiron’s Week 4 Picks.
