BCC’s One-Loss Teams – Through Week 7

Old Bridge, Voorhees, and Jonathan Dayton are three of the nine one-loss teams in the Big Central Conference entering the final week of the regular season.

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – Entering Week Seven of the 2025 New Jersey High School Football season, there are nine teams in the Big Central Conference with only one loss.  Four of them reside in Middlesex County.  Two of Middlesex’s two one-loss teams through Week 7, Sayreville and Woodbridge, joined the group after losing games last Friday night.  Sayreville was knocked off by Montgomery (43-15) while Woodbridge was edged by Summit (10-7).

Two of the one-loss schools are from Union County, while Somerset and Warren each have one.  All of the other seven teams won last week to remain on the list.  Six of the teams on the list are ranked in the BCG’s Top 20, including five ranked in the Top 11.  Three teams:  A.L. Johnson, Jonathan Dayton, and Spotswood are all running neck and neck at 28 through 30 in the latest BCG 1 to 59 rankings.  Six of the schools are 7-1 while the other three are 6-1.

Spotswood is the most dominant of this group with an average margin of victory of 26.6 points per game.  The Chargers are also averaging 34.3 points per game on offense.  Old Bridge has continued to remain dominant overall with a prolific offense and a stout defense.  The Knights rank second in terms of average margin of victory, while also topping the list in fewest points allowed.

Old Bridge has yielded less than a touchdown and a field goal per game.  The Knights recorded their third straight shutout and gave up their first points in 14 quarters during their 45-29 win over Hunterdon Central last Friday.  Phillipsburg has the second most potent offense with a scoring average of nearly 34 points per game, while Sayreville is right behind at 33.5 points per contest.  Six of the nine schools are scoring at least 28 points per contest.
