And then, there were four. Only four schools in the Big Central Conference remain undefeated entering the final week of the regular season, led by top-ranked St. Joseph’s.

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – Entering Week Eight of the 2025 New Jersey High School Football season, there are only four teams in the Big Central Conference that are undefeated.  Two of them still reside in Somerset County alone, while Middlesex and Union each have one.  Two of the teams, St. Joseph’s and Bernards, are ranked in the latest BCG Top 10.

Last week’s No. 4 and No. 5 teams, Sayreville and Woodbridge, fell from the ranks of the unbeaten.  Sayreville lost to No. 8 Montgomery (43-15) at home in Bomber Country, while Woodbridge was edged by Summit (10-7) at Priscoe Stadium.  Both teams are still very formidable at 7-1.  Three of the four remaining undefeated schools in the BCC are either Group 1 or Group 2:  Bernards, Manville, and New Providence.

Manville has been the most dominant of the teams with an average margin of victory of 34.4 points per game.  The Mustangs have also recorded three shutouts on the year, while yielding less than a touchdown per contest. The New Providence Pioneers are close behind with a point differential of 31.3 points per contest.

Top-ranked St. Joseph’s rolled past No. 9 St. Thomas Aquinas (41-19) to remain atop the polls and the highest-ranked undefeated team in the BCC.  Manville is also the highest scoring team amongst this group with a scoring average of 40.8 points per game.  New Providence is close behind with a 38.0 points per game average.  All four teams are scoring an average of over 27 points per contest.
