Delaware Valley Takes the Top Spot

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – Week 0 of the 2026 New Jersey High School Football season is in the books and there are some slight changes to the Big Central Gridiron Small School Top Ten.  With Delaware Valley’s 17-0 opening night win over North Hunterdon and Bernards hard-fought loss at Rutherford (26-20), the Terriers move up to No. 1 for the time being, while the Mountaineers slip to No. 2.  Hillside, Governor Livingston, and New Providence round out the top five.

Meanwhile, Manville jumps up to seventh in the poll thanks to its dominant win on the road at Keansburg (56-18) of the Shore Conference.  David Brearley of Kenilworth moves into the No. 9 spot thanks to its road victory at Wallington (33-0).  One contest that could shake up the BCG Small School poll is the match-up between Voorhees and New Providence at Lieder Field on Thursday evening.  Governor Livingston will be taking on Bernards and Brearley hosts Dayton in Week 2 action on September 10th and 11th.
