Thirty Games on the Schedule for This Week

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – The Week 1 Big Central Conference schedule kicks off on Thursday with seven games on the slate.  There is a total of 30 games set for this week with 21 contests on Friday, and two more on Saturday to wrap things up.  Big Central Gridiron plans to be at three of the contests starting with Belvidere at Roselle Park on Thursday night.  The weather could wreak havoc on Thursday’s schedule as a heat advisory is already in effect, and there could be severe weather during the afternoon and evening.

Noteworthy match-ups on Thursday, include Voorhees at New Providence, Hunterdon Central at Hillsborough, Woodbridge at Edison, and Linden at Scotch Plains-Fanwood.  Moving on to Friday, BCG will be at Krausche Field for the annual rivalry game between North Plainfield and South Plainfield.  Meanwhile, Somerville visits Piscataway in a renewal of an old Mid-State Conference rivalry.  Phillipsburg plays another Eastern Pennsylvania Conference school in Emmaus.  Sayreville travels to Ridge in a BCC Crossover, and Bernards hosts Cranford.

On Saturday, the week concludes with a couple of games.  Big Central Gridiron will be at Brenner Family Field to take in the contest between tenth ranked St. Joseph’s and second ranked Bridgewater-Raritan.  The other contest on tap for Saturday is between two long time Union County rivals, Hillside and Roselle.  Twenty-nine of the 30 games are Big Central Conference crossovers.  Divisional play will commence in Week 2.  Take a look at the Week 1 schedule below.
