On Friday night, Monroe rallied from behind in the second half to defeat J.F. Kennedy of Iselin, 20-13. The victory was the second straight for the Falcons and raised their record to 3-2. Monroe’s win was also the 7th straight versus Kennedy since 2001. The Mustangs still leads the series that dates back to 1984, 13-9.
On Friday night, Westfield edged Union 14-6 on the road. It was the second straight win for the Blue Devils after losing their season opener to Phillipsburg. Westfield’s win was also the second in the last three years versus Union. The Farmers still lead the series 33-29.
On Saturday afternoon, Woodbridge held on to defeat Colonia, 42-39 in one of the wildest games in the series between the two schools. The Barrons won their second straight and 6th of its last 9 versus its arch-rival. The Patriots still lead the series 29-25-4.
On Saturday afternoon, Spotswood shut out South River for the second straight year with a 35-0 victory at Sayreville War Memorial High School. The win gave the Chargers their third straight win in the series and 7th in the last 11. South River still leads the series 35-13.
On Friday night, South Plainfield travels over to Krausche Field in North Plainfield to take on the Canucks in their annual rivalry game. This will be the 51st meeting all-time between the Tigers and the Canucks with North Plainfield leading the series 31-18-1.
On Friday night, Piscataway heads down to DeMarco Stadium at Lombardi Field behind Carl Sandburg Middle School in Old Bridge to take on the Knights. This will be the 31st meeting all-time between the Chiefs and the Knights with Piscataway leading the series 24-6.
