Phillipsburg, Old Bridge, and Voorhees are three of the seven remaining one-loss teams in the Big Central Conference.

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – Entering Week Seven of the 2025 New Jersey High School Football season, seven teams in the Big Central Conference only have one loss.  Two of them reside in Middlesex and Union counties.  One of Middlesex’s two one-loss teams through Week 6, Spotswood, joined the group after losing to Jonathan Dayton last Friday night (41-20).

Three teams, Bridgewater-Raritan, Montgomery, and Summit, fell out of this group with losses last weekend.  Meanwhile, two teams, Phillipsburg and Spotswood, joined the list after losses a week ago.  Phillipsburg is the highest-ranked at No. 2 in the latest BCG Top Ten.  The Stateliners also have the highest Strength Index at 83.40 according to Gridiron New Jersey.

Two of these schools, Phillipsburg and Somerville, are all ranked in the latest BCG Top Ten, while Old Bridge is on the outside looking in at No. 13.  Three teams:  A.L. Johnson, Jonathan Dayton, and Spotswood are all running neck and neck at 29 through 31 in the latest BCG 1 to 59 rankings.  Four of the schools are 6-1, while the other three are 5-1.

Despite its loss to Jonathan Dayton last Friday, Spotswood is the most dominant of this group with an average margin of victory of 25.7 points per game.  The Chargers are also averaging 33.3 points per game on offense.  Old Bridge has continued to remain dominant overall with a prolific offense and a stout defense.  The Knights rank second in terms of average margin of victory, while also topping the list in fewest points allowed.

Old Bridge has yielded less than a touchdown and an extra point per game.  The Knights recorded their third straight shutout and have not given up a point in their last 13 quarters.  Voorhees has the second most potent offense with a scoring average of exactly 33 points per game, while Phillipsburg is right behind at 32.3 points per contest.  Four of the seven schools are scoring at least 31 points per contest.
