BCC’s One-Loss Teams – Through Week 5

Eight teams from the Big Central Conference enter Week Six action on Friday night with one loss this season.

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – Entering Week Six of the 2025 New Jersey High School Football season, eight teams in the Big Central Conference only have one loss.  Three of them reside in Somerset and Union counties.  One of Union’s three one-loss teams through Week 5, Summit, joined the group after losing to Somerville last Saturday (41-20).

Bridgewater-Raritan is the highest-ranked at No. 5 in the latest BCG Top Ten.  Somerville has the highest Strength Index at 81.18 according to Gridiron New Jersey.  Bridgewater-Raritan, Montgomery, and Somerville are all ranked in the latest BCG Top Ten, while Summit is just on the outside looking in at No. 11.  Montgomery and Somerville both reside in the Liberty Silver Division, with the Cougars handing the Pioneers their only loss at Brooks Field in Week 2 (22-15).  

Old Bridge leads this group in terms of point differential with an average margin of victory of 23.2 points per game.  The Knights also top the list with two shutouts on the year, and have allowed only 7 points in their last three games.  Old Bridge has not given up a point in its last 9 quarters.  Voorhees has the most potent offense with a scoring average of exactly 35 points per game, while Old Bridge is right behind at 31 points per game.  Seven of the eight schools are scoring at least 25 points per contest.e.

If these eight schools get through this week unscathed, then at least three could suffer their second defeat in Week 7, with Bridgewater-Raritan hosting Westfield, Montgomery traveling to undefeated Sayreville while Summit visits unbeaten Woodbridge.
