BCC’s Undefeated Teams – Through Week 5

Only eight teams from the Big Central Conference remain undefeated coming into Week Six action on Friday night.

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – Entering Week Six of the 2025 New Jersey High School Football season, there are only eight teams in the Big Central Conference that are undefeated.  Four of them still reside in Middlesex County alone, while Somerset has two.  One of Union’s two undefeated teams through Week 4, Summit, lost to Somerville last Saturday (41-20).

Phillipsburg is the highest-ranked at No. 1 in the latest BCG Top Ten, and with a Strength Index of 89.83 according to Gridiron New Jersey.  New Providence has been the most dominant of the teams with an average margin of victory of 32.4 points per game.  The Manville Mustangs are close behind at 31.0 points, along with three shutouts on the year and yielding less than a touchdown per contest.  

Bernards and Woodbridge posted their second shutouts of the season last week.  New Providence is also the highest scoring team amongst this group with a scoring average of 39.2 points per game.  Phillipsburg is close behind with a 38.8 points per game average.  Six of these teams are scoring over 31 points per contest to date. average of 42.5 points per game.  Six of these teams are scoring over 32 points per contest to date.

Only eight schools get through this week unscathed, with St. Joseph’s hosting Phillipsburg at Brenner Family Field on Saturday, October 11th. If the rest get through their Week 6 match-ups, then at least two will have tough match-ups next week, with Woodbridge hosting Summit while Sayreville hosts Montgomery. Summit and Montgomery enter this week with one loss and have match-ups against two undefeated teams in Bernards and Woodbridge.
