Rivalry at a Glance – East Brunswick vs. Perth Amboy

Led by the trio of Nathan Charleston, Noah DeJesus, and Sean Christie, East Brunswick surged past Perth Amboy, 35-12, in an NJSIAA Regional Crossover at Waters Stadium in Perth Amboy on October 29th. EB’s victory gave the Bears a 36-10 lead in the all-time series dating back to 1964.

PERTH AMBOY, NJ – Last Wednesday night, October 29th, East Brunswick visited Waters Stadium to take on Perth Amboy.  It was the first time that these old Greater Middlesex Conference Red Division rivals played each other since the 2021 season.  Perth Amboy now plays in the Big Central Conference’s Liberty Gold Division, while East Brunswick competes in the BCC’s National Gold Division.

The two teams played in an NJSIAA regional crossover, or consolation game.  It marked the 46th time that the two schools faced each other on the gridiron.  The very first meeting between the two schools in 1964 ended in a 13-0 Perth Amboy win.  East Brunswick leads the all-time series, 36-10, after defeating the Panthers, 35-12.  EB overcame a 12-8 halftime deficit by scoring 27 unanswered points in the second half.  

East Brunswick has won all three meetings versus Perth Amboy since the formation of the Big Central Conference in 2020.  The Bears have won 12 of the last 13 meetings since 2002.  Perth Amboy has never won more than two in a row in this series.
