BCG’s Week 8 Picks

Jonathan Dayton has a chance to win at least a share of its first division title since 2009, and its first-ever BCC divisional crown with a victory over arch-rival David Brearley on Saturday.

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – The 2025 New Jersey High School Football Season has reached the end of the regular season.  The NJSIAA state playoffs get underway next week. Several Big Central Conference titles are up for grabs in this final week of the regular season.   

Big Central Gridiron has a big slate of games planned for this week, beginning on Friday night.  BCG will take a trip out to Olcott Field to see the Bernards take on Carteret in a BCC Crossover. Then, on Saturday, Big Central Gridiron will head up to Springfield to see Jonathan Dayton host arch-rival, David Brearley, in a game that will help determine the BCC Freedom Gold crown.

BCG also plans to cover several sub-varsity contests as well.  On Monday, Big Central Gridiron covered a JV contest between Linden and Carteret, and on Thursday, BCG headed out to Perry Tyson Field for a freshman football contest between Scotch Plains-Fanwood and Summit.  More games are on tap for Saturday morning and next Monday afternoon.

There are numerous divisional contests on tap. Some of the more important ones include Bridgewater-Raritan at Phillipsburg, St. Thomas Aquinas at Sayreville, Montgomery traveling to Rahway, and Manville at Bound Brook.  Some of the key crossover games include Colonia traveling to Old Bridge, North Hunterdon visiting Voorhees in the latest edition of the Milk Can Game, and Delaware Valley hosting New Providence in a battle of top small schools in the BCC.

Outside BCC play, Edison travels to Passaic County to battle the Ghosts of Paterson Eastside of the Super Football Conference on Friday evening in the only non-conference game.  There are no games on Thursday night, but eight on Saturday, and 22 on Friday for a total of 30 contests this week.
